Temporary Pause: Medium Is Experiencing a Global Outage

Dear Writers and Readers,

Our editorial team wanted to reach out with a quick update. We tried to post a newsletter on Medium, but the platform is currently unavailable. Fortunately, Substack is back online after being briefly affected earlier.

Medium has confirmed a global hosting outage that impacts publishing, editing, and reading access. Their engineers are actively working to restore full service as soon as possible.

Because of this, story reviews, scheduled publications, and editorial updates are temporarily paused. Please rest assured that all drafts remain safe and will appear once Medium is back online.

In addition, over the past few days, Medium reduced the number of allowable stories per MPP writer to three. This new limit has become another major challenge for our editorial workflow, as more than 70 percent of the stories in our publishing queue are now blocked and cannot be released cluttering the queues and frustrating our volunteer editors.

Unfortunately, this adds to the overall delay in publishing and Medium as usual made this change (right or wrong) without informing the community. We found out it by chance through Google search earlier today. We will write a story about this unexpected situation too, to inform you.

We understand how much effort and anticipation go into every story. We encourage everyone to take this short break as an opportunity to pause, reflect, and prepare for what comes next. Outages like this remind us that even digital systems need recovery time, just like we do.
